TIRADE plus others July 28 The Shed
The evenings line-up included bands from as far afield as
Holland and Bristol. 'Raptor Captor' (I think that's what
they were called) had a decent new wavey sound (in places)
and some good guitar and keyboard effects. Tirade, in only
their second gig were showcasing some new material. The
kick-off 'Electric Love' has a rocky indie-esque vibe about
it. This was followed by the well received 'Brighter Day'.
Highlight of the set was the dark, slow, brooding 'The Dark
Song' (a song about heroine addiction) closely followed
by the indie-punk '1 2 Many' (a song about boozing and pulling
dodgy birds) and 'Feel the Grim' (dunno what that's about,
it's just a song! And a bloody good one! Tirade also included
a couple of covers in their repertoire both of which were
very competently played - 'Break on through' by the Doors
and 'Unbelievable' by EMF. They signed off with the up-tempo
punky 'Helta Skelta'. Tirade take you on a helta skelta.
Out of the Vaults
(Vingt Quatre) Playing on Carribean Carnival night Tirade
played their full set, 'a right mash-up of indie, punk and
ska. Split into two half hours, they kicked off with EMF
'Unbelievable' followed by their own 'Brighter Day' ending
the first section with 'Dark Song' to rapturous applause.
A ten minute interval was followed by a more up tempo second
set featuring, amongst others brand new tune 'Mary' and
'Helta Skelta.' '1 2 Many' was played as an encore by request
at the end. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The band was well received
by those who had made the journey.
