With the help of producer James Loughery (My Vitriol, Hope of The States), up-and-coming progressive rockers, Pitchblend have created an album which further reinforces the opinion that forward-thinking, alternative rock music is still well and truly alive within our trend-infested land.

This album boasts a wide selection of strong tracks, featuring an impressive combination of thought-provoking lyrics and competent guitar work. Songs such as 'Everything >From Here On', 'Foundation for Reason and Science' and 'Revelation', perfectly illustrate Pitchblend's ability to draw from the warm ambience associated with artists such as Sigur Ros and Mogwai, the reflective, questioning tone seen with Hell Is For Heroes, and the melodic dexterity displayed by the likes of Oceansize and Dredg, and create a sound of their own. The results will impress anyone who likes their music to be smart and introspective, while still retaining a strong sense of urgency and excitement.

Many have drawn obvious comparisons with My Vitriol, and as well as having the same producer, it's not hard to spot the similarities between sounds, particularly on the two opening tracks. However, everything is inspired by something, and it would be unfair to take too much away from Pitchblend, who stray farther beyond the territory of post hardcore than MV ever have, displaying more frantic, Metal-orientated tendencies. And to be fair, could they really have picked a better band to sound a bit like?

I give The Lines Of Unreason an impressive 4 out of 4, simply because Pitchblend remind me of all the bands I love, and I have yet to spot a weak song after a great deal of listens. With the full release date later this month, I urge you to get your hands on this album and support a band with great potential.
